It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Vickie Jean Mumpower Dobson, age 57, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her residence in Bristol, VA. She was born in Abingdon, Virginia to the late Roy Bert Mumpower and Revonda Oretta Mullins Mumpower on November 23, 1965. She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself and was a lover of animals, especially her fur babies Daisey, Roy B, Retta, Moo, Grady and Henry.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepfather, Russell Cassell; two sisters, Monica Armstrong Kennedy and Cindy Mumpower.

Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Matthew “Matt” Eric Dobson; son, Joshua “Bud” Mumpower and his wife, Kayla Mumpower; daughter, April “Ape” Dempsey; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Billy, Raelynn, Paizlee Mumpower, Allison and Hunter Smith and Noah Arnold; three sisters, Joy Henderson and her husband, Robert Henderson, Lisa Anderson and Tammy Michael Garrett; three brothers, Ricky “Whistle” Mumpower, Mike “Sput” Mumpower and Rusty Cassell; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel. Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel with Pastor Nick Shortridge officiating.
