Vickie N. Ketron, 69, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Vickie spent most of her life in Washington County, Va., and she graduated from Abingdon High School. She also studied at Virginia Highlands Community College and Virginia Intermont College. She spent her entire working career as a medical laboratory technician. Vickie was a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church. She was a strong and independent woman who loved making a home for her family. As she was rearing her children, all of their friends considered her another “mom.”
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Audna David and Thelma Meade Bateman; sisters Josie Diane Bateman and Darlene Francis Hayter; and brothers Ezra David Bateman and Ray Bateman.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Paul Ketron; sons Blake Lunsford (Rachel) of Bristol, Tenn. and Chuck Lunsford (Beverly) of Abingdon; daughters Tracy Zervakis of Richmond, Va., Krista Robinson (Tommy) of Suffolk, Va. and Danielle Fields (Jason) of Bristol, Tenn.; brothers Lee Bateman (Lucinda) of Pensacola, Fla., Wallace Emmitt Bateman of Chesapeake, Va., Richard Bateman (Donna) of Blountville, Tenn., Howard Bateman (Connie) of Abingdon, and Roy B. Bateman (Shirley) of Blairsville, Ga.; sisters Evelyn Campbell (Bob) of Abingdon and Julia Karen Robinson of Glade Spring, Va.; grandchildren Haley Lunsford, Bradley Lunsford, Kendall Lunsford, Victoria Hazelwood, Kristina Grizzle, Josh Hall, Dom Fields, Hunter Fields, and Alyssa Robinson; and great-granddaughter Emma Grizzle.
A funeral service will be held at Holston Valley Baptist Church on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. Jason Dunn and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Interment will follow in Holston Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 20, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Holston Valley Baptist Church.
