Mrs. Viola Marie Price, 85, of Abingdon , VA passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Price; one daughter Edna Crisp; a brother, Elmer Greer; and a sister, Stella Thomas.
Born in Washington County , Virginia to Ken and Roxie Greer, Mrs. Price was known to family and friends as Peggy. She will be remembered for her love and laughter. Mrs. Price was a homemaker her entire life and loved her family very much.
Left to cherish her memory are four daughters: Joyce Crusenberry (husband Terry) of Bristol , VA ; Freda Gill (husband Daniel) of Abingdon , VA ; Frances Cook of Abingdon; and Nancy Watson (husband Ronnie) of Lenoir , NC . Mrs. Price is also survived by three siblings: Frances Snavely of Salem , VA ; Shirley Haigler of Paw Creek , NC ; James Plummer of Stanley , NC . Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Farris Funeral Chapel, 427 East Main Street , Abingdon , VA. Following the visitation, the funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Harry Booher officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park . Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Ecumenical Faith in Action Food Pantry, 798 Hillman Highway , Abingdon , VA 24210 . Flowers will also be accepted.
The family would also like to express special thanks to caregivers Mary Ray, Pam Crain, and Kristi White.
