Abingdon, VA – Violet Genevieve Glass Walden, age 88, passed on Monday, October 19, 2015, at her home. Violet attended Trinity Baptist Church and retired after 26 years of employment as a dietary cook from Johnston Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry McKinley Glass and Betty Gladys Humphreys Glass; son, Lewis Walden, Jr.; and brothers, Emit, Garland, Eugene, and Clyde Glass. Violet is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lewis Walden, Sr.; daughter, Yulanda Coe of Bristol, VA; brothers, Frank Glass of Abingdon, VA and Alfred Glass of Marion, VA; sisters, Luella Wolf of Piney Flats, TN, Margerie Poole of Baltimore, MD, and Jane Belcher of Meadowview, VA; grandchildren, Anita Yarber, Carol Coe, Mark Coe, and Candy Fields; 16 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21st at the funeral home with Rev. Floyd Nelson and Rev. Darrell Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Les Yarber, Mark Coe, Dakota Fields, Chris Fields, Lee Fields, Billy Fields, and John Fields serving as pallbearers.
