Virginia E. Humphrey Prater
September 6, 1933 — April 13, 2012
Virginia Humphrey Prater "Tiny", age 78, passed away Friday, April 13th, 2012 at her home. She was a former employee of Superior Mills, Chilhowie, Virginia. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a friend to all and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was born to the late Wiley and Ila Hash Humphrey September 6, 1933 in Washington County, Virginia. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roy McKinley Prater; one grandson, Wayne Jenkins; and one granddaughter, Amy Little; three brothers, Infant Humphrey, Leon Humphrey, and Johnny Humphrey.
She is survived by six children, Mike Prater, Linda and Lionel Osborne, Ann and Chester Jenkins, Mary and Everett Louthian, Pam and Mark Puckett, and Nancy and Ronald Little; one brother, Kermit Humphrey; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00PM, Sunday, April 15th with visitation two hours prior at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Pastor Tommy Wilson to officiate. Those wishing to attend the committal service may convene at 10:00AM, Monday, April 16th at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Floral tributes will be accepted or donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
