Virginia “Frances” Thomas, age 85, of Glade Spring, Va., passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, after a long illness. She was born February 24, 1936, to the late Harry Sandefur and Stella “Flossie” Rust Sandefur. She was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church. She retired from Ford Motor Company after working at various Ford dealerships in Abingdon over the years. She was also an avid New York Yankee and Ford Racing fan. She was active all through the years with arranging reunions for Glade Spring High School alumni. She was proud of her school and her community.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Craig Thomas, and her husband of 52 years, Raymond Kenneth Thomas.
She is survived by her son, Aaron Thomas of Glade Spring; sister, Pat Bailey and husband, Herbert, of Abingdon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Rose Cemetery with Rev. Herbert Bailey officiating. The family requests social distancing practices be implemented and masks be worn.
