Wanda Louise Jackson, 64, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 14, 1945 and was a daughter of the late Gus and Myrtle Ruth McNew. She was born in Smyth County, VA and had lived in Abingdon for the past 36 years. Wanda was a supervisor at Buster Brown where she had worked for over 20 years. She loved being outside gardening and working in the lawn. She was also a wonderful cook and loved Bingo. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are her husband of 45 years, David Jackson; her son, Bryan Jackson and wife, Selena and their children, Steven and Chloe of Bristol, TN; her daughter, Farrah White and husband, Jason of Abingdon; her daughter by choice, Tia Lee Land of the home; 4 brothers, Jerry McNew and wife, Lena of Chilhowie, VA, Robert "Bo" McNew and wife, Sharon of Chilhowie, Ricky McNew of Marion, VA and Ronnie McNew and wife, Carmella of Saltville, VA; five sisters, Jean Doane of Saltville, Ellen "Dolly" Frye of Saltville, Retta Whitehead and husband, G.C. of Saltville, Teresa Surber and husband, Richard of Chilhowie and Debbie Poston and husband, Bob of Chilhowie; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Ken Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park Cemetery in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be Joe Collins, Dr. Tim Collins, Gary Collins, Bob Poston, Richard Surber and G.C. Whitehead.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Saturday.
