Bristol, Va. – Wanda Sue Farris, age 70, passed away at Bristol Regional Medical Center, on Thursday April 8, 2021, following a brief illness. She was born July 9, 1950, in Grundy, Virginia, to the late Theodore and Alva Hall Looney. Sue was a graduate of Grundy Senior High School and lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia.
Sue had several jobs during her lifetime, but the one for which she will always be most fondly remembered is homemaker. She attended church online before it became popular. Sue enjoyed fishing and had a camper at the lake for 15 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband and 40-year partner, Charles B. Stevenson; and son, Jeremy Dwayne Farris.
Left to cherish Sue’s memory are son, Chance Farris and wife Heather; one brother, Harold Looney; three sisters, Maxine Grounds, Janice Boyer and husband Frank, and Brenda Folsom; four grandchildren, Conner, Corey, Alexia, and Rhianna Farris; and honorary grandson, Devin Stiltner.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service (19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210), with Pastor Shea Shrader officiating.
Covid-19 guidelines will be followed, which includes wearing of masks, social distancing, and adherence to occupancy rules.
