Weaver Thomas Widener, 85, of Glade Spring, Va., went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2018 on the farm. He was born November 12, 1932, to the late Colonel Joel Widener and Josephine Thomas Widener. Weaver was a lifelong tobacco and cattle farmer who enjoyed riding horses.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Weaver is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred Fuller Widener; son, Tommy Widener of the home; daughter, Debbie White and husband Mike of the home; twin daughters, Teresa Foglesong and husband Roy, of Meadowview, Va., and Lisa McQueen and husband, Kenneth of Shady Valley, Tenn.; sister, Ruby Poston of Orange, Va.; four grandchildren: Leslie McVey and husband Steven; Renee White; Bradley McQueen and wife Emily; and Cody Foglesong and companion Kelcie Smith; three great-grandchildren, Alex McVey, Adam McVey, and Olivia McQueen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Bro. Buster Mullins officiating. According to his wishes, Weaver will be cremated and scattered on the family farm. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm. – 6:00 pm. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County 4-H Livestock Club c/o Crystal Peek, 234 W. Valley St., Abingdon, VA 24210.
