Wesley Blake Wilson

Wesley Blake Wilson, age 66, of the Lodi Community in Meadowview, Va., went to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Wesley worked in maintenance for Washington County Schools for 20 years until he became too sick to perform his duties. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was in the Vietnam Conflict from 1969-1971.
He was born to the late William and Blanche Wilson. In addition to his parents, Wesley was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, David, Dale, and Chester Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Brenda Wilson; two sons, Andy Wilson and wife Brandy of Glade Spring, Va. and Denny Mitchell and wife Melissa of Abingdon, Va.; two daughters, Leslie Cregger and husband Chris of Chilhowie, Va. and Michelle Mitchell and fiance Kenny Collins of Glade Spring, Va.;four brothers: Larry Wilson and wife Jane of Hickory, N.C.; Gary Wilson of Meadowview, Va.; Curtis Wilson and wife Gladys of Abingdon, Va.; and James Wilson of Meadowview, Va.; four sisters: Stella Barr of Granite Falls, N.C.; Barbara Pierce and husband Gene of Elizabethton, Tenn.; Edith Barr of Hickory, N.C.; and Wanda Harmon of Old Fort, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Christoper and Olivia Cregger, Danielle, Emily, and Faith Mitchell, Alex Rhoten, Amber Monk and husband Cody, and Tiffany Thomas; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Wayne Ritchie, Maurice Reed, and Jim Gilland.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Dwayne Dillard and Rev. Denny Mitchell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. According to his wishes, Wesley will be cremated following services.
