William Albert Widner, age 91, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019 in his home.
He was born January 25, 1928 in Washington County, VA to the late Oscar Widner and the late Anna Lee Price Widner. William was a farmer and member of South Chapel Church.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Widner; son, James Widner; daughter, Ester Denton; brother, Wallace Widner; sister, Annie Mae Widner.
William is survived by his sons, Danny Widner of Bristol and Roger Widner and wife, Rachel of Abingdon; daughters, Bertha Baumgardner and husband, Ray of Westminster, Maryland, Kathy Parks of Damascus, Patsy Keeling and husband, Steve of Bristol, Sheri Cox and husband, Rick of Bristol, Cindy Montgomery of Bristol, and Barbara Vestal and fiance, Harold Casey of Abingdon; sister, Ellen Johnson of Abingdon, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be conducted 2 pm Sunday, July 7, 2019 at South Chapel Church with Pastor Paul Maness, Rev. Mike Norris, and Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in the Alvarado community with grandson’s serving as pallbearers and great-grandson’s as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 6-8 pm. The family will also receive friends at Mr. Widner’s home, 520 Horizon Drive, Bristol, TN or Sheri Cox’s home, 2145 Denton Valley Road, Bristol, TN.
