William E. "Frog" Arnett

August 27, 1939 — November 9, 2015

Meadowview, Va. – William E. “Frog” Arnett, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2015, at his home. He was a native of Washington County, Virginia, son of the late Fletcher Arnett and Leila Scott Arnett. He had been employed by KVAT/Mid Mountain and attended Solid Rock Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anita McNew, and one special nephew, Eddie Arnett. Mr. Arnett is survived by his wife, Linda Arnett; son John Arnett of Meadowview; daughters Patty Widener and husband Dennis of Meadowview, and Sandy Arnett and boyfriend Dale Robertson of Meadowview; one special grandson Jeffrey Arnett of Meadowview; two brothers, George Arnett and Bud Arnett of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Eleanor Blevins of Raleigh; other grandchildren Jason Widener, Brian Widener, Alyssa Widener and Jeremiah O’Quinn; five great-grandchildren, Paul, Malakai, Aleia, Heidi, and Paisley; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center and Johnston Memorial Hospital; Dr. Ahmad Hammad and Dr. Bernard Tisdale of the Regional Cancer Center; Dr. William Cummings; all of the doctors and nurses who cared for him the past two years; all of our families, friends, church members, and neighbors who have been so kind to us, and most of all for the prayer chains that gave him the strength to carry on this past year; and all of the nurses of Home Nursing Service and Hometown Hospice who were so good to Bill. The funeral service for Bill Arnett will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Brother Billy Hawkins and Brother Johnnie Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Blackwell Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Arnett, Jason Widener, Brian Widener, Jeremiah O’Quinn, Paul Widener and Dale Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Solid Rock Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the funeral home.
