William Hagy Grubb

July 25, 1915 — March 26, 2010

William Hagy "W.H." Grubb, 94, a native of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 in Grace Healthcare.

He was born July 25, 1915 in Abingdon and was a son of the late C.W.C and Benona Crenshaw Grubb. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and served from April 1941 to May 1945. He was with the 117th Engineers Battalion in the South Pacific from 1942-1945 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Tech-Sergeant. He was a carpenter by trade and was a member of Rich Valley United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Reba Grubb and Belle Logan and brothers, Wilson, Andrew and George Grubb.

He is survived by sisters, Lula Mae Freeman of Kingsport, TN and Katherine Davenport and husband, Jack of Kingsport; brothers, Roy Grubb and wife, Rosa Lee of Abingdon, Gilbert Grubb and wife, Elsie of Abingdon and Ernest Grubb and wife, Carolyn of Bristol, TN; a sister-in-law, Edith Grubb and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Larry Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon with military honors conducted by Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews.

The family will be receiving friends for one hour prior to the service.
