Willie Nathaniel Johnson

Willie Nathaniel Johnson, born on May 29, 1935, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Deer Meadows Rehab in Abingdon. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.

Willie led a fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. After working for Eastman Kodak for 25 dedicated years, he retired and embarked on a new journey serving as a minister. His unwavering faith and passion for helping others shaped the lives of many in his community.

One of Willie's greatest joys was spending quality time with his family. Whether it was organizing gatherings or simply sharing conversations over a cup of hot coffee, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Willie exuded warmth and made those around him feel welcomed and valued. His kind heart and gentle spirit brought comfort to all who knew him.

Survived by his devoted wife Nancy N. Johnson, their son Bryant N. Johnson, as well as his cherished grandchildren Autumn, Ashley, Broderick, and great-grandchildren Ashton and Kamden. Willie also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss him.

The life of Willie Nathaniel Johnson will be honored through various services. A visitation event will take place on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel located at 427 E Main St in Abingdon, VA.

The homegoing service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Farris Funeral Service - Main Street location, starting at 12:00 PM with Brother Pete Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery, pallbearers will be Ernest Hill, Earl Fuqua, Mike Hale, Jeff Hockett, Jeffery Washington, and Kevin Sigmon. 

Willie's memory will forever remain in our hearts as we celebrate his remarkable life and the impact he had on those around him. His unwavering faith, compassionate nature, and ability to make others feel at ease will serve as a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Thank you to family, friends, the church, all of you for your prayers, your kind words and support, your presence, your cards and telephone calls, your food, money etc. Because of your caring and sharing you have made our burden lighter - Nancy and Bryant Johnson.
