William Kenneth Combs

Hampton, VA - William Kenneth Combs, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Kenneth was a native of Abingdon, VA and a resident of Hampton for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Newport News Shipyard after 38 years of employment. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Galeski Combs; his parents and one brother. He is survived by his children, Betty Alice Godak and husband, Pete of Chesapeake, VA, William Clifford Combs and wife, Sylvia of Rockport, TX, Mable Ann Pash and husband, Billy of Rockport, TX, Kenneth Leon Combs and wife, Vicky of Hampton, VA, and Mary Jane Ellixson and husband Andrew of Fredericksburg, VA,; grandchildren, Brian, Teri, Jason, Missy, Eric, Miranda, Cody, Christopher, Kimberlyn, Ariel, Ashley, and Sarah; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Nora Milsap of Abingdon, VA; brother, Charles Combs and wife, Barbara Jean of Bristol, VA; four nephews, C.H., Lynn, Nathan, and Eric. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, VA with military rites provided by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Visitation with the family will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
