William Malcolm Sprinkle

William Malcolm Sprinkle, age 82, passed away at Bristol Regional Medical Center on Sunday, August 14, 2022. He was born in Saltville, Va. but spent most of his life in Washington County, Va. He received his Bachelors from King College and Masters Degree from East Tennessee State University. Malcolm was a long-time teacher at Sullivan East High School where he taught physics and biology. He was a member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church and the Bristol Kiwanis Club, where he served as president. Malcolm was an avid gardener, skilled woodworker, and master in antique trade. He distinguished himself by being a life-long learner and frequently took his family and students on hikes where he hunted salamanders and taught them about nature. He will be remembered for being a generous giver to others.

Malcolm was predeceased by his parents Leon Franklin Sprinkle, Sr. and Helen Gray Galliher Sprinkle; his sisters Frances Lee Crumley and Nancy Ann Sprinkle, and nephew Michael Sprinkle.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Claudia Garrett Sprinkle, sons Lee David Sprinkle (Karalee) of Piney Flats, TN and William Martin Sprinkle (Amanda) of Abingdon; daughter Alicia Sprinkle Arney (Steve) of Abingdon; grandchildren Killian, Kaylee, Evan, Cate and Miranda; brother Leon Franklin Sprinkle, Jr. (Sue); brother-in-law Claude Crumley (Mary Alice); sister-in-laws Mary Ann Garrett Moore and Grace Gilmer Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside and interment service for family. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Green Spring Presbyterian Church.
