William Thomas Reames, Jr.

Glade Spring, VA- William Thomas Reames, Jr., age 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 8, 2014, at his home with his wife by his side. Born May 13, 1928, he was the son of the late W.T. and Rachel Clark Reames and a lifelong resident of Glade Spring, VA. He was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Chilhowie, VA. He received his education in civil engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA. He was superintendent of maintenance and construction for Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation in Saltville, VA, and later a bridge engineer for the Virginia State Highway Department. He served in the military during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Regenia Reames; two daughters, Leslie Love Lloyd and Jessica Moore; one son, Edward Hutton Reames; two grandchildren, Cherish and Jacob Lloyd; one sister, Rosamond Rosenbaum; two nieces, Mary Lou Bevins and Carolyn Wilson; four great- nieces, Ashley Bevins Hortenstine, Katie Bevins Green, Amy Wilson and Rebecca Wilson; and one great-nephew, David Bevins. The family wishes to thank Eric Davidson, Frank Branson and Dr. Ernest Henry for their friendship, support and care during Mr. Reames’ illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Providence Presbyterian Church in Chilhowie, VA, where the Reverends Hank Belfield, Frank Branson and Kirby Lloyd will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Davidson, Mike Wilson, Alan Bevins, Walter Robinson, Pat McCune and David Bevins. Arch Epling will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Providence Presbyterian Church 204 N. Church St., Chilhowie, VA 24319 or to the cemetery fund at Old Glade Presbyterian Church, 33234 Lee Highway, Glade Spring, VA 24340.
