Wilton Harrison Hilt

Abingdon, VA Mr. Wilton Harrison Hilt, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his home. He was a well-known local farmer and U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Hilt was a member of the Spring Creek Presbyterian Church. W.H. Hilt was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruby Browning Hilt; his parents, Robert S. and Sophia Mock Hilt; son Mike Hilt; grandchildren David and Amy Hilt; and brother Robert Stanley Hilt, Jr. He is survived by his son Robert Hilt and daughter-in-law Sandy of Abingdon, VA; daughters-in-law, Karen H. Ireson and Cathy L. Maine; brother Harold Hilt (Winona) of Abingdon, VA and sister Frances Trent of Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren, Susie Hilt, Amanda Hilt Wampler, Luke Hilt, Sally Hilt, and Kayla Hilt; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. In the case of inclement weather, the service will be held inside the church. Pallbearers will be Luke Hilt, John R. Graham, Parker Talbot, Robbie Snider, Mickey Ireson, and Matt Talbot.
