Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Fields, Jr., age 78, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Woodrow Wilson Fields, Sr. and Stella Frances McCracken Fields in Elk Garden, Va. Woody was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation with 28 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Bradley Fields; and a sister-in-law, Linda B. Fields.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Janice Rutherford Fields; two sisters, Betty F. McVey of Bristol, Va. and Mary Frazier and husband, L.C., of Abingdon, Va.; brother, Joe D. Fields, of Abingdon, Va.; brother-in-law, Robert Rutherford and wife, Brenda, of Lebanon, Va.; two step-sons, Todd Lowdermilk and wife, Samantha, of Stafford, Va. and John Lowdermilk and wife, Kathy, of Bluff City, Tenn.; three step-grandchildren, Ada Jane Lowdermilk, Isaac Lowdermilk, and Josh Authenreath; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private committal service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Karen S. Lingerfelt officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be John Lowdermilk, Todd Lowdermilk, Josh Authenreath, John Yokim, Allan Lingerfelt, and Frank Myers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
